From Original to Screen Print
Dutch contemporary artist Ellen de Meijer (b.1955) paints portraits of modern-day archetypes, as an expression of our collective struggles and lies.
Recurring themes in her work are status and power, loss of emotion and authenticity, innocence, resistance, climate change, consumerism, competition, technology, and material wealth.
Ellen de Meijer's artwork has been featured in exhibitions at Art Miami and prominent fairs across the USA, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands. In 2022, her work was selected for NADA Curated by the NewArtDealersAlliance. Her work is housed within the esteemed VanDenBroek Foundation, one of the Netherlands' top three private art collections.
The EDM series are exclusive limited edition screen prints intended to emerging art collectors. The screen prints are based on original paintings from Ellen de Meijer's 2011-2021 period.
The archetypes in the artist's portraits are her observation of society's harmful social structures and conventions that we all seem to adhere to, and according to the artist, also greatly impact our future generations.
